I was painting this piece the day my dog Doobie died. I was in such a panic, not knowing what to do, that all I could do was meditate and paint. The same second he died, his son Newbie was born. I named this piece "How to Cheat Death" because I swear my dog was reincarnated, and somehow this painting depicts just that for me.
